SCC International: TV Digital Switchover Campaign Set to Save Over £50million

The ongoing campaign to switch British TV signals to digital is running so smoothly that the scheme is set to generate a multi-million pound surplus.

It was announced last month that around £55million of funding is set to be handed back to the Government once the digital switchover is completed in two years’ time.

It is thought that the leftover funding will be re-assigned to the roll-out of broadband internet connections in rural areas.

The digital switchover began in Britain in 2007, and the government aims to have the country’s analogue signal completely switched off by 2012. The switchover process involves replacing the analogue channels with free-to-air digital TV and radio services, i.e. Freeview.

Around 20 per cent of Britain has already been converted to the digital TV signal; north-west England, Wales, the West Country and the Border region. The other regions in England and Wales, as well as in Scotland and Northern Ireland, will be switched over to the digital signal by the end of 2012.

The digital switchover is arguably the biggest technological project currently running in the UK, and in many areas the switchover has been aided by the work of SCC International.

SCC International has been an established leader in the TV systems and commercial satellite industry since its incorporation in 1993. They provide a number of multimedia solutions for both homes and businesses, including installation and maintenance of TV systems, satellite uplink services, fitting of integrated reception systems and installing IPTV.

Watch the New Premier League Season in 3D with Help from SCC International

The World Cup may have ended in disappointment for England, but football fans can console themselves with the fact that the domestic football season is now upon us. The 2010/2011 Premier League is set to be one of the biggest yet, and fans will be able to see all the action in 3D as Sky Sports officially launches its brand new 3D channel this summer.

The first Premiership football match to be shown in 3D was Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium back in January. This “test” screening proved to be a massive success, and as a result Sky Sports began a roll-out of the 3D TV service in tens of thousands of pubs, restaurants and hotels across Britain back in April.

Sky will continue their 3D revolution this summer by launching the Sky Sports 3D channel, which will not only broadcast Premier League football matches, but also a number of other sports covered by the company, including rugby and cricket.

3D football is set to take Britain by storm in the next twelve months, so it’s best to have your 3D facilities installed in good time before the start of the new football season to fully take advantage of its benefits. Satellite communications company SCC International can install the 3D TV service in your public establishment with the greatest of ease.

As well as the introduction of 3D TV, SCC International are also involved in a number of high-profile TV and satellite projects, including the continuing Digital Switchover in Britain. The company also provide installations of integrated reception systems and IPTV. For more information about SCC International and the services they provide, including 3D television installation, visit the SCCI website at http://www.scci.co.uk/.

York Schools Score With Hatfields Football Giveaway

With the FIFA 2010 World Cup™ recently ending and the new Premier League season kicking off, localHyundai dealers Hatfields is ensuring that local schools have the equipment in place to help develop the nation’s much-needed football stars of the future.

The dealership, located on York Business Park, and stocking a range of used and new Hyundai cars, has been delivering hundreds of footballs to grateful staff and pupils at schools across the region, with children of all ages eagerly waiting to try out the moves being displayed by their heroes in South Africa.

Hatfields York contacted the schools following a successful weekend of World Cup-related fun held at the showroom last month. Visitors were able to exchange an old football, whatever the age and condition, for a brand new one, with the traded-in balls going to Africa as part of the SOS Africa scheme. At the event, the York FA Girls’ Academy dazzled attendees with an exhibition of football skills.

“Watching the York FA Girls’ Academy enthusiastically demonstrate their footballing talents inspired us to contact local schools across the area,” commented Andy Maddock, Dealer Principal at Hatfields York. “We wanted to help the physical education teachers in the community develop future football stars, and what better way to do this than by providing some vital equipment.”

The schools to have benefited from the initiative are: the Jospeh Rowntree School of Haxby Road, Manor CE School on Low Poppleton Lane, and Wigginton Primary on Westfield Lane.

Andrew Haigh, Head of Physical Education at the Joseph Rowntree School, said “Football, as you would expect, is an extremely popular sport among our pupils, even more so during a World Cup. We are very grateful to Hatfields for the provision of these footballs which will allow us to set up two new school teams – a Girls’ under-13s and a Girls under-15s.”

Hatfields York is part of the Hatfields group, which operates dealerships covering a range of automotive marques across the north of England and the West Midlands. The Hatfields group operates three Hyundai dealers, located in York, Stockport and Bury,as well as Jaguar, Landrover, Range Rover and Volvo dealerships around the UK.

British Companies Failing to Protect Employees' Eyesight

A recent survey amongst HR departments across Britain has found that up to 90 per cent of businesses are failing to meet the legal obligations to protect the eyesight of their staff.

According to figures published by the Eyecare Trust, one in ten British companies does not have any form of eye care policy in place for their employees.

Alastair Hall, Head of Health & Safety at Citation said “Businesses have 6 key obligations relating to eye care, including, regular eye tests, proper analysis of work stations, and short screen breaks throughout the day. We often find that employers are unaware of the provisions they should make for employees around eye care regulations”

The Eyecare Trust estimates that absence and reduced productivity due to employees’ eyesight problems costs the British economy around £1.5bn a year.

If you are worried that your business is not properly conforming to health and safety regulations, with regards to eye care or any other areas, then a health & safety specialist from Citation could help.
